Barcodes and ISBNs
A barcode helps eBay match your item to its catalogue, which helps it appear in searches.
Automatic, from photos
When the AI writes a listing, Ripple:
- reads the barcode's bars in your photos;
- if it can't, uses the digits the AI reads off the photo (under the bars, or a book's ISBN on the back cover or copyright page);
- keeps the number only if its check digit is right. An old 10-digit ISBN becomes its 13-digit one.
The number goes in the item's Barcode box and to eBay as the ISBN (books), UPC or EAN.
By hand
On the item page, type or scan the barcode in Barcode, or press the camera button to scan it. Look up shows what eBay knows about that barcode (title, category, specifics, price range) and lets you fill the item from it.
